What you will learn

Your free course is split into 6 manageable units

What's meant by 'autism'

Your introduction to autism, covers what is meant by ‘autism’, theories, and diagnosis.

You will also look at common misconceptions associated with autism and conditions that can co-occur with autism.

Person-centred support

Discover the advantages of a person-centred approach to support, incorporating the preferences and needs of the individual.

Look at legislation and guidance, and the support networks available to individuals and their families.


Explore the potential delays and difficulties in speech, language, and social development sometimes faced by individuals with autism.

Understand methods and strategies that could be used when communicating with individuals.

Sensory processing

Gain an understanding of sensory processing, perception, and cognition in individuals with autism – including looking at hypersensitivity and hyposensitivity.

Consider how to support the sensory needs of individuals with autism.

Positive behaviour

Through this unit you will understand individuals’ behaviours in the context of autism.

You will also look at how to support positive behaviour and help individuals to develop coping strategies.

Fulfilled lives

Learn how to support through transitions and life events, how to maintain their personal safety, and how to access services, and facilities.

You will also gain an understanding of what it’s like for an individual to live with autism.

Why it's free

If you meet the eligibility criteria the course is available at no cost whatsoever.

We connect you with training providers that use the UK Government’s Adult Education Budget to fund the free online courses. 

  • Aged 19 or over as of 31/8/21
  • Living in England
  • Have lived in the UK/EU/EEA for at least 3 years*
  • Not completed any part of the course before

*EEA nationals will need to have obtained either pre settlement or settled status and provide evidence of this.


Your Certificate

Your level 2 certificate is a record of achievement and your proof of completing the nationally recognised qualification.

If you meet the eligibility criteria then YES!

We connect you with learning providers that use government funding, in the form of the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and the Adult Educational Budget (AEB).

We hope to get you started within 24 hours of completing the full enrolment process.

The course is designed to allow learners to fit their learning around their employment obligations and takes on average on 6 weeks to complete depending on learner ability.

Yes! All of our free courses are 100% online.

All of our courses are accredited by UK government-recognised awarding bodies. These include NCFE CACHE and TQUK, with whom we work closely to ensure our existing courses, and all new ones, meet approved standards of excellence and are certified as such. NCFE CACHE and TQUK are national awarding organisations that design, develops and certifies nationally recognised qualifications and awards.

All qualifications are regulated by Ofqual and are the perfect form of CPD.

No, there are no exams, all courses require you to complete assessment questions based on the knowledge you have just gained from the units.

The courses we offer are all funded qualifications, meaning you need to be eligible for government funding in order to secure your a place. This information is a funding requirement and proves your eligibility.
